The Brief
Whilst at university I engaged in the unit Typographic Design (DVB201), where we were tasked to create our own font with a partner, and to engage in weekly typographic based activities.

Typography is one of the main key components of visual-based applied design, as it is the designing of the written language system, that therefore has a direct affect on the orthographic, phonetic, and semantic comprehension of the wording. In other words, just by using certan fonts, we can add additional meaning, feelings, and sensations to the words themselves.

Takeaways
Form
In graphic design it is important to know how to use the space to your advantage, and in particular; white space. It took a bit of trial and error, but I started to get the balance right. I was able to space everything, without making it look 'off'.
Feeling
Maths and measurement will work often, but it can't work for every occasion. Some elements might be mathematically in the centre, but to the human eye, it is not. So in those instances, I had to learnt to rely on my instinct to make sure it all was visually in the correct place; I had to learn to rely on my designer eye.
Fun
This was one of the few units that was overall enjoyable. I did not think that I would at first, but as time went on, I found that I enjoyed being challenged at having to learn something new at the same time. Even if a project/task is not something that I may usually prefer/be in my wheel-house, I can still find an aspect in it that I can really enjoy.
