The Brief
My final major project for Lives Lived Well (LLW) whilst being an intern for the Marketing and Communication Team, was to create an updated version of a previous advertisement for their CREST service (their corrective service program / community re-entry service).

With 62% of inmates having non-functional literacy skills and 29% of inmates identify as aboriginal, it was important to make sure that people from different educations, backgrounds, and cultures could understand and connect with the video.

Takeaways
Consultation
Whilst making the storyboards, I (or my colleague) were in constant communication with LLW staff who worked at CREST services. Consulting with the experts allowed us to ensure that the video would be relaying correct and understandable information.
Clarity
Some inmates struggle with both literacy and visual communication skills. So, it was important to make the video as clear and comprehensible as possible. As people from different educational backgrounds would be able to take away the services and support available.
Consideration
At an organisation such as LLW, it was important to be considerate of other cultures, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. The organisation works with many forms of addiction, so it was important to make sure that imagery used/created was not explicit in substance usage, as it may trigger current and previous substance users.
